Review: Clean Coconut CBD Skincare Products

In one of our first podcast episodes, we interviewed Aliza Sherman of Ellementa. Her voice in the cannabis industry is one we have come to trust, so when she recommended Clean Coconut products we didn’t hesitate to give them a try. In this review, we will share our experience with Clean Coconut’s Body & Face Oil (Lavender), Lotion Face & Body (Grapefruit) and the DEEP Relief Cream.

While we NEVER do paid reviews – we accept the products free from the company free of charge. We did not change our review in any way to please Clean Coconut in order to receive compensation, this is our honest experience.

About Clean Coconut: Based in Colorado, the company is woman-owned and operated. The founder, Wendy Pagaduan is a registered nurse and started the company after struggling with skin issues of her own for many years.

As a registered nurse, with knowledge of the many prescriptions and over the counter skin care remedies available, she realized she wanted a more natural remedy without all the harsh ingredients that most other skin products contained.  Through passion, research and love, her journey resulted in the creation of skin care products that not only brought relief but also amazingly beautiful skin.” -From Clean Coconut’s Website.

Company Promise: “We will NEVER use any:  Fillers, Parabens, Nanoparticles, Petrochemicals, PEG, Synthetic Fragrances, Dyes, or Phenoxyethanl.  We test our products on real people (thank you, family, and friends) and NEVER on animals. We are made in Colorado and source the worlds purest natural and organic ingredients.  If we don’t put it on our skin, it won’t be in our products.”

Third Party Testing: Our 3rd Party Testing is posted on our website. We are in the process of revamping our labels to include mg and QR Code to link the test results to every batch hoping to have this complete in the next 3 months.

My Skin: I have struggled with dry skin my entire life, often in the winter developing dry patches on my face and body. My face is combination oily and dry – prone to breakouts, especially around my period. Like most women, I am wary of what I put on my face, though I am not afraid to experiment.

Review – Body & Face Oil (Lavender)

25mg CBD

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Organic Virgin Moroccan Argan Oil, Hemp Extract (CBD Oil), Lavender Essential Oil, Organic Rose Hip Oil, Vitamin E

The first thing you will notice with all of Clean Coconut products is the smell. All three of the products I tested for this review smell absolutely lovely, with no hint of artificial or chemical odors. The lavender smells exactly as a fresh bouquet of lavender smells – and if you’re into that terpene profile, you’re in luck.

I take my showers in the evening, so I brought this oil with me to use when I got out. I am used to pumping lotion or pouring oil on my body to moisturize and was really pleased with the experience of spraying the oil. I sprayed the oil head to toe – including my face and rubbed it in. It takes a few minutes to absorb but leaves behind luxuriously soft feeling skin. I also love using the lavender at night as it promotes relaxation right before bedtime.

Like most CBD skin products I’ve tried, it’s impossible to feel the effects of the CBD itself. I’d like to think the CBD is doing magical things to my skin and making it extra soft and sexy – but it could also just be the fact that I am rubbing high-quality oils all over my skin. Either way, the CBD makes me feel like it is, in fact, doing something extra – and even if its just a placebo that doesn’t really bother me. It did not clog the pores on my face or make me break out either!

In the end, I found myself scraping the bottle to get every last drop of this lovely oil.

Grapefruit CBD lotion

Lotion Face & Body Grapefruit

25mg CBD

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Leaf Juice, Organic Coconut oil, Glycerin, Emulsifying Wax, Stearic Acid, Grapeseed oil, Phenoxyethanol, xanthan gum, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate, hemp extract, pink grapefruit essential oil, Organic Rose Hip Oil.

As I mentioned above, all of Clean Coconut Products smell amazing. The grapefruit is no exception – this lotion smells just like fresh grapefruit zest with nothing artificial at all. I used this product as a general hand and body lotion mostly. It seems almost a little watery – though does hydrate and sinks in quickly. On a second glance at the ingredients, I discovered that the watery-ness I noticed is likely from the aloe leaf juice, one of the first ingredients. So though it feels super light – the aloe juice is supposed to have amazing skin benefits.

According to Healthline, “For clear skin. Hydrating aloe vera juice may help reduce the frequency and appearance of acne. It may also help reduce skin conditions like psoriasis and dermatitis. Aloe vera is a rich source of antioxidants and vitamins that may help protect your skin.”

Overall the grapefruit lotion is a great product for someone with more oily skin that is worried about using the oil based body product.

Much like the oil, it is hard to tell if the CBD is truly making a big difference. Though the product smells and feels so nice and is made with such high-quality safe ingredients that I would still recommend it CBD or no CBD.

Deep Relief

45mg CBD

The Deep Relief lotion claims an anti-inflammatory & analgesic experience. I didn’t end up using this product as often as the others – I wanted to preserve it for times when I really needed it. Again (you’re probably sick of this line) it smells absolutely amazing and fresh. The aroma gives off a relaxing mind-clearing experience just like all of the other Clean Coconut products.

Did it help me recover after working out? Maybe – like the others and all CBD topicals I have tried it does seem to help me recover faster. I cannot be sure if it is a placebo effect or if it really does help, but it definitely isn’t hurting. My fiance and I gave each other shoulder rubs with this salve and it was a truly magical experience, but isn’t almost every shoulder rub?

I am going to keep this on hand for post-workout and times when I need the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD. While I cannot give you an “it changed my life” kind of testimonial, I do believe the cannabinoids are helping, and either way the products are high quality and delightful smelling.
