Wana Brand – Exotic Yuzu 2:1 CBD/THC Gummies Review

Wana Brands edibles are by no means a new thing to the state of Colorado. I have seen the Wana Gummies in pretty much ever dispensary I’ve been inside of since prohibition. I’ve also tried a bunch of their products with some varying results, likes, and dislikes. First, I am not a huge gummy fan. Really, if we are telling truths here, I lost my sweet tooth after one too many pillowcases full of candy on Halloween. At this point the smell of a Jolly Rancher is off-putting, so I am biased here. I admit it, and I am a snob when it comes to the world of gummies and hard candies. C’mon this is a product for those over the age of 21. WTF are you doing trying to sell me a hard candy like I was a buck tooth kid in a soda shop in the 1950s? Show me dark chocolate, and we can talk. I digress.

When I saw the Yuzu Gummies on the shelf, all that preconceived douchebaggery (yes that is a word) went out the door. Or perhaps it came running to the front of my mind! YUZU? I thought, having flashbacks to my long-winded discussions with chefs about flavors to use in cocktails (I use to be a bow tie-clad, apron-wearing hipster bartender). Yuzu Gummies, now that’s making a move in the right direction. So, as I am a SUCKER for proper packaging and marketing, I bought.

Side Bar: For those that are not familiar with Yuzu and what it might taste like, “Yuzu is a sour Japanese citrus fruit, used both for its juice and its aromatic rind. The yuzu (which is about the size of a tangerine) has an aroma and flavor that is distinct from any other citrus fruit, somewhat akin to a cross between grapefruit and lime.” – Wikipedia a.k.a The Oracle.

Now, we have been searching for the right hangover “cure” for the better part of two decades. The classic is to go straight to the hair of the dog that bit you. Hell, if you are just drunk, running like Usain Bolt in the opposite direction of a hangover, all you need is stamina and a week off work, proper planning and a taper off strategy, good luck. Mimosas and Bloodies, yeah that’s just a band-aid on an open wound. By 2 pm, post-brunch and after a coffee, you’ll start getting that dry mouth, shakey hand feeling. Well now, that’s a hangover! So, when edibles hit the market we began to experiment with the varied offerings from candies to chocolates to gum (still not a good option out there BTW).

Nothing seemed to “cure” the hangover so much as change it to a lazy high with a side of headache. Albeit, a preferred state of mind compared to the full-blown, stuck on the couch existence. But still not a full on “cure.” And so, the search continued.

Enter Wana Brand Exotic Yuzu gummies. Let’s start at the top. As mentioned before I am a flavor snob, I just am. The Yuzu flavor in these is nice. I prefer a less sweet option, but we are talking about gummies here, so I am not going to ding anyone for that. Strawberry and I took these after a wild night out. Let’s put it this way when you wake up with $26 in singles after making a stop a Nitro (a strip club in Boulder); you know you took it a bit to far. Ooopppss. So the dosage on these is a 2:1 CBD/THC, 20MG CBD, 10MG THC. I am not a fan of taking a 10MG dose first thing in the AM, so we cut them into 1/4’s. i.e. 5MG CBD, 2.5MG THC. And let me tell you CUZZIE, wow! (Pat we’d love to have you on the show, call me. Might be hard with that FOX contract on the way though…)

We took a quarter a piece and went to see our friend on her first day at a new bar gig for brunch. About halfway through my horchata coffee and a plate of huevos rancheros, I would have skipped like a butterfly back to Sundown Saloon for another ten well tequila-sodas!

Let’s reel it in a bit. For whatever reason, CBD is all the rage at the moment, and I have had my fair share of positive as well as negative experiences with CBD…anything. Some of the 1:1 CBD/THC edible products out there are great. Some not. Some feel like a hyper dose of Indica sans the high. Some CBD bud, same thing. Pure CBD products, all over the board at best. My dog is the only one in the house that prefers it. It feels a bit hit or miss, but getting better. However, I would put the Wana Brand Exotic Yuzu gummies right there near the top when it comes to the desired effect for what you are looking for in a CBD/THC edible.

The feeling was not that of being tired or sluggish. But instead, I felt like the edge was taken off from being hungover, no longer tired and unwilling to do pretty much anything. Once more, Strawberry and I both commented that we felt as though we were floating a bit and everything seemed a bit more silly than usual. Which for us is pretty darn silly. “Wait, wait, wait! Harry Potter wasn’t a documentary. Prove it!” and so forth.

In conclusion for the cost ($18.95 on special), these are an excellent choice for those looking to use CBD/THC products to ease some pain, relax or get a bit silly in the afternoon. We retook these on a hike in similar mental circumstances with similar easing, giggling and soothing effect. However, we have not yet took a full dose, but we are both lightweights so a 2.5MG dose of THC is what we would call “micro-dosing” so take that into account when you go to try these. We always recommend that you start small and only take more when you think you need to. Remember folks, like any vice; you can always add here; it’s pretty hard to take away.

High – 4.2 leafs
Flavor – 4.5 leafs

Body v. Heady – A bit of both when taking a small dose
